After many, many years under the tutelage of some of best hair artist in the world I wanted to practice all the diverse techniques and methods I'd learned; I just couldn't do it under the umbrella of a conventional 'super salon'. I was always told what I CAN'T do. I've always pushed against boundaries, stereotypes and labels. I had to break out or watch my creative spirit wither away. With the clientele I've attracted over 17+ years, we co-create, we learn and build together.
My clients are not 'sales tickets', they are individual visionaries and my job is to help their 'outside' to match.
Rayna has been in the beauty industry for over 10 years. With the honored distinction of training under notably the best in the industry, to name a few: Denis DaSilva of the flagship salon Devachan Departure Lounge in SoHo NYC & Devacare Hair Products but more importantly the creator of the ‘Pintura’ method aka Balayage; Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salons NYC , one of her educators and mentors in all things cut and style, also introduced her to the world of editorial/session hairstyling that involves television, commercial and print campaigns.
Shortly after this introduction into the editorial realm of hairstyling Rayna began to assist world renowned session stylist i.e. Eugene Soulemian, Yannik D’s & Ken O’rouke to name a few. Unbeknownst to the general public these titans of industry are responsible for major magazine covers such as: Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, V-Magazine, again to name a few of their many assets. This kind of exposure to such greatness in creativity can only lead to next level experiences and one of the many for her was to be apart of New York Fashion Week. A magnificently huge cornerstone in the fashion industry. She was privilege to work on teams that produced hair for fashion houses such as The Blondes, Reem Acra, Betsey Johnson, Jeremy Scott, Tommy HIlfiger, Tory Burch, and the legendary Oscar de la Renta, again just to name a few. She began to book jobs on her own but after long hard deliberation decided her assets were better utilized as a independent contractor working with the everyday woman….and man. Thus the beginning of Rayna Hair Artistry Spring 2012. Working for herself was the only way she could bring all facets of her interest under one umbrella: (color)specializing in balayage, (cut) textured haircuts and (style) editorial hair styling for all hair textures.
At the start of Fall 2015 Rayna brings her New York vibe and vast experiences in the hair industry to Los Angeles, California. From her private studio in West Hollywood to the Powder Room LA, a trendy rock and roll hair salon in the Mid City, Greater Wilshire / Hancock Park area of Los Angeles.
Over the course of my career I get asked particular questions that many others might have as well. Let's sweep out the cobwebs and explore more in depth!
